The Community Scouts project, an Erasmus+ initiative led by AFEdemy in collaboration with ISIS Institut für Soziale Infrastruktur gemeinnützige GmbH and Verbinden BV, has officially concluded. This project aimed to empower citizens and professionals to provide essential support to older adults within their communities
In response to Europe’s ageing population and the increasing importance of informal caregiving, the Community Scouts project developed a comprehensive training toolkit. This resource equips citizens with the necessary skills to assist older adults, promoting their independence and enhancing their quality of life.
Throughout the project, focus groups and interviews were conducted in Germany and the Netherlands to identify training needs and challenges faced by volunteers and professionals. Insights from these sessions informed the development of the training materials, ensuring they address real-world scenarios and foster effective collaboration between community members and professionals.
The Community Scouts toolkit is now available online, serving as a valuable resource for citizens eager to make a meaningful difference in their communities. By performing small tasks, providing companionship, and maintaining regular contact with local professionals, Community Scouts play a crucial role in creating supportive environments for older adults.
AFEdemy and its partners are proud of the project’s achievements and remain committed to fostering age-friendly environments across Europe.
